Native Cultural Art Camp August 8 - 12 2016
Artists through the ages have created art. Join us as we make beautiful art projects inspired by native cultures. Students explore traditional indigenous art forms from across the Americas as they create their own tools for their projects. Students make their own paint brushes, pigment paint, and cordage to build and paint a parfleche box or leather pouch, as well as hand sculpt stone buttons to personalize it. Students also learn from South American indigenous traditions of weaving or beading to create their own works of impressionist art.

Pine Needle Basketry
The aroma of pines that fill the rocky mountains is captured by this beautiful art. Students will learn how to take long pine needles and transform them into an exquisite basket as we stitch weave the needles together. Students will be able to control the contour and the shape of the basket, add handles or pour spouts, and personalize it with their own creativity. This is a fine motor skill art and an excellent way to spend time in crafting a beautiful basket. Each student will walk away with a finished basket which they hand crafted themselves. $80
