Michigan Blacksmith School and Classes
Michigan blacksmith school
Allronian Forge is a close to Grand Rapids, Michigan local blacksmithing "school" dedicated to teaching and growing the passion of blacksmithing. We believe that blacksmithing shouldn't have to be a specialized industry depending upon pricey equipment and false mystical notions that have been perpetuated to prohibit the starting of such a fun skill.
Therefore our definition of 'Blacksmithing' goes as such: Simply, bashing hot metal into the shape that one wishes it to become. |
With that said, all that is required to do blacksmithing melts down to three simple pieces: you need a heater, you need a basher, and you need metal. Come visit us and let us teach you this exciting skill in one of our many blacksmithing classes.
Having taught blacksmithing, I saw many students catch the spark of enthusiasm for pulling that radiant red metal out of the forge and willing it to the design of their creation. They felt empowered, they loved it, and best of all, they let that inner child break through and live for a little longer. Sadly, I saw that spark of enthusiasm for blacksmithing get snuffed out as they walked away from the class, "Look at all those 'fancy' blacksmithing tools," they thought grimly, "I'll never have those ... I guess I just won't be able to blacksmith." The sadness of that now quenched ember of enthusiasm was as noticeable and thick as the smoke of new coal. That is why when I moved to the western Michigan area, I decided I would teach Backyard Blacksmithing. I teach in a way and with the equipment that anyone, with the desire, can set up and use wherever they live.
