Blacksmith Knife Making Kit and Class
- Learn to hand forge a knife from a 1/2 inch round piece of High Carbon knife making steel -
Purchase includes Online Class access and the Knife Blank Material. We ship you a piece of the exact high carbon steel that we use in the video lesson.
We take you step by step through the process of hand forging a knife from the knife making supplies we provide. With this class you will learn the techniques needed to make a knife out of any high carbon piece of knife making steel you find. This is no 'grind out a knife' class but a TRUE blacksmith made hand forged and hand shaped knife!
The class is in easy to watch sections. They each detail a blacksmithing technique that way you can watch one section and go practice then come and watch the next.
This video does not go over handle making. It does teach you how to make a full tang knife just not how to put the wood on it. We will have another video lesson on handle making coming in the future that will cover knife scales and stack handle knifes.
With the metal we supply you can easily make two knives: a 5 inch bushcraft knife and a 3 inch neck knife.
Knife Necklaces are best for every day use. I've had a knife hanging off my neck for years and I've found a use for it every day. They are generally a lighter thinner blade.
Bushcraft Knives are thick spined knives with a single bevel blade for easy sharpening. They are usually around 4-5 inches long in order to be used as a wood carver and a wood splitter.
We sell all the blacksmith knife making tools with our One or Two brick Forge kits.
Your own hand made knife is perfect for Mountain Man Rendezvous, reenactment, everyday knife, survival knife, or impressing friends, family, and random acquaintances.
This is the first version of the class. While filming the audio stopped working so we had to add voice over and a lot of the footage was not usable, it was a sad discovery. Don't get me wrong, this lesson covers everything you need to know! It just doesn't have the three camera angle, funny jokes, and my pretty face in it. But never the less we keep forging onward and thus we are currently working on the second version. We wanted to get at least a class out before the beginning of the Christmas season. You will have complete access to the newest version no matter when you purchased the class.
The individual weblink is sent in the box with the metal. It is on a sticker that should be attached to the metal. Sometimes in shipping it comes off and it will be loose in the box.
